Sensorium of the Animals Kickoff
I was invited to participate in the kick-off of ‘Sensorium of the Animals’ at the Critical Media Lab at Academy of Art and Design in Basel. It is an artistic research project exploring animal senses and the possibilities of altering the human senses.
The kick-off included presentations and discussions about both human and animal senses and communication from a wide range of perspectives – including poetry written by worms, an artist who became a goat, interspecies communication, cyborgs and academic research about object recognition in fish and humans. A lot of discussions evolved around the project mascot: the elephantnose fish. This animal senses its environment by emitting an electrical field and and picking up the signals with electroreceptors on its body.
